Bio-petrol coming in August
Biological petrol E5, a combination of traditional petrol and bio-ethanol, will be sold in Vietnam for the first time in an effort to reduce the greenhouse effect and ensure power security.
This petrol will be available at more than 20 stations in Hanoi, HCM City, Vung Tau, Haiphong and Hai Duong, the Vietnam Oil and Gas National Group (PVN) has officially announced.
The sale of E5 will later be expanded to three stations in Danang, three in Hue and five in Can Tho.
The new kind of petrol is said to help save fuel, and prolong engine life.
Because of these strong advantages of E5, the Vietnamese government considers bio-fuel one of its cutting-edge industries.
Compulsory use of bio-fuel is being enforced in a number of countries, particularly in Europe. Well-known auto manufacturers such as Honda, Toyota, GM and Ford have produced cars that are able to use bio-petrol E10 without any modification of their engines.
The introduction of E5 petrol to the Vietnamese market is part of the Vietnamese Government’s plan to develop biological fuels until 2015 with a vision for 2025.
